For the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints,
we captured several different aerial data sets to provide detailed information
about Chruch’s property and to create a “digital twin” of the structural layout.
Point Cloud
A point cloud is a set of data points in 3D space. The points represent a 3D object. Each point has its set of X, Y, and Z coordinates.
3D Mesh
A 3D mesh is the structural build of a 3D model consisting of polygons. 3D meshes reference the point cloud to define shapes with height, width and depth.
Digital Twin
The photos used to gather the data are then projected onto the 3D mesh to give the 3D model the photo-realistic finish.
